UK Influencer Ed Matthews Livestreams Encounter With Ringo Starr, Who He Doesn’t Recognize

Ed Matthews is a British YouTuber and Kick streamer who's successful enough to be sharing airport lounges with some pretty legendary musicians. Yesterday Matthews was livestreaming from a lounge at Heathrow Airport when another man and his wife walked in; that man happened to be Ringo Starr, and Matthews did not recognize him.

Starr was wearing a mask, but flashed his face just briefly enough for viewers to recognize him. After asking Matthews whether or not he was "on the radio," Starr approached him. Matthews asked Starr where he was from, to which he replied, "I'm from Liverpool," in what might be the most Beatles-sounding accent you can imagine. When Matthews said he'd just come from Manchester, Starr responded, "We must be brothers." Starr's wife, Barbara Bach, noticed Matthews had been coughing and sniffling and asked him if he was sick. After Matthews said he was indeed feeling a little under the weather, Starr and his team left the room.

Once he was alone again, Matthews confessed to the livestream chat — who kept trying to tell him the man was "Beatle Ringo" — that he didn't know who the man was. "His wife looked pretty classy, so he must be pretty high-value," Matthews said. "Beatle Ringo? Who is that? Who the fuck is Beatle Ringo?... Is he on one of them statues from Liverpool?"

Matthews gave himself a brief crash-course in Beatles history, which was a good call on his part, because he wound up sitting right by Starr on his flight. They took a selfie together, which Matthews proudly shared on Instagram. See the interaction below.
