Bernard Butler is the original guitarist for Suede, Norman Blake is the frontman of Teenage Fanclub, and James Grant is the frontman of the Scottish band Love And Money. Last year the three friends teamed up for their self-titled debut album as Butler, Blake & Grant, and now they've announced its follow-up Murmurs. Out this March, it sees the bandmates reimagine songs from their respective back catalogs; one of those, "Lonely Night," is out today.
Blake wrote "Lonely Night," which initially appeared as a bonus track titled "Dark And Lonely Night" on Teenage Fanclub’s 2010 album Shadows. The original version was more upbeat and piano-driven, while this one takes a more classic folk approach. (The only track on the album that wasn't written by either Butler, Blake, or Grant is "Me & Magdalena," which Ben Gibbard wrote for the Monkees' 2016 comeback album.)
