Crack Cloud Announce New Album Peace And Purpose: Hear “Safe Room”

Canadian art collective Crack Cloud has a new double album on the way. The follow-up to 2024's Red Mile is called Peace And Purpose and is coming in March. The first preview is the single "Safe Room," which comes with a video compiled of real-life footage.

"Safe Space" feels barebones. There's wistful, folky guitars and steam-fueled drums. The track's minimal ruggedness fits with the heavier reflective lyrics: "Did you really think it would go away/ With the closing of a door/ Do you really think it will be okay/ Some things in life you can’t ignore."

For the accompanying video, the footage is a collage of years. It's compiled from six different eras: Danny's last days (2001), Jaggo ceremony (2023), Crack Cloud in Europe (2023), training for a fight (2024), the greatest outdoor show on earth (2024), and making Peace And Purpose (2025). The video (and song) is a testament to Crack Cloud's fluid, ongoing creation — how the past can never be fully forgotten but evolves with every new memory and moment created. It's both equal celebration (a wedding) and remembrance (Danny Choy, the father of frontman/drummer Zach Choy, was diagnosed with leukaemia at 29 and is prominently referenced in the music).

Choy shared some insight about the upcoming project:

Peace And Purpose was written and recorded in my basement between November 2024, and November 2025. One microphone was used (an SM57), with a variety of junk instruments and speakers. The music was borne from a winter of prolonged grief. My approach to the engineering was a return to hardline principles of DIY; utilizing only what was within possession, and favouring intuition over convention. Like an ayahuasca trip, the sessions were visceral and inspired. Afterward, a sense of relief, and gratitude. The intensity that marked the beginning of this process, and the resolve that came from its conclusion — to me represents the spirit of the record, and the story I wanted to tell.
