Charlotte Cornfield – “Living With It” (Feat. Feist)

Next month, Charlotte Cornfield will release Hurts Like Hell, her first album for Merge Records and also her first since becoming a mother. On Hurts Like Hell, Cornfield is backed up by a band that includes people like Palehound's El Kempner and Lake Street Dive’s Bridget Kearney, and it's got contributions from the likes of Christian Lee Hutson and Maia Friedman. Big Thief's Buck Meek appeared on the title track, and Cornfield's new song features fellow Canadian singer-songwriter Leslie Feist, last seen saluting the White Stripes at their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction.

Cornfield's new song "Living With It" is a hushed, awestruck meditation on a consequential conversation, and it's got lovely harmony vocals from Feist. According to a press release, Cornfield met Feist through a group chat for mothers who work as touring musicians. Cornfield says, "I had secretly dreamed of having her sing on the record and mentioned it to [producer] Phil Weinrobe, who she is also friends with. When Phil reached out and she said yes, I sent her a couple of songs, hoping she would gravitate towards this one. She did, and she added her Feist magic to it, which is undeniable."

Feist and Cornfield are both in the "Living With It" video, too. We see them excitedly working on the song together while paying no attention to the desperate dancer who's in the room with them. Check it out below.

Hurts Like Hell is out 3/27 on Merge.
