Bill Orcutt Announces New Album Music In Continuous Motion: Hear Two Tracks

Four years ago, guitar visionary and former Harry Pussy member Bill Orcutt released Music For Four Guitars, an album on which he played all four of the instruments in question, layering them into swarms of piercing melody. He has since assembled the Bill Orcutt Guitar Quartet, a group of seasoned players (Wendy Eisenberg, Ava Mendoza, and Shane Parish) who assist Orcutt in bringing these wild sounds to life.

Today he announces a new guitar quartet album, Music In Continuous Motion, and shares its first two tracks, "Giving unknown origin" and "Unexpectedly heavy." Orcutt once again played all the guitars on the record, but he'll be performing them live with the Bill Orcutt Guitar Quartet at Roulette in Brooklyn on March 20.

This new music is very much in line with what he's been doing in recent years: jagged, pogo-ing, bracingly harmonic tangles of sound that somewhat resemble a post-punk band without drums, bass, keys, or vocals. I love it. Listen below.

Music In Continuous Motion is out 3/13 on Palilalia. Pre-order it here. I'm ready for another Orcutt album with Chris Corsano!
