Foo Fighters Preview 11 Songs From New Album

Elizabeth Miranda

Foo Fighters, last seen covering Mariah Carey's secret grunge project with Taylor Momsen, will soon head out on a stadium tour with the crazy supporting-act lineup of Queens Of The Stone Age, Mannequin Pussy, and Gouge Away. From all appearances, they've also completed work on their 12th studio album. They haven't announced that album yet or shared any info on it, but they've got a whole lot of song snippets up on their website.

In the past week or so, Foo Fighters posted a few Instagram reels with short teasers. That led up to the unveiling of the band's new website, which looks like a bedroom wall covered in Foo Fighters posters. If you click on those posters, you can hear pieces of 11 new songs. The snippets are too short to say anything definitive about the new track beyond "yes, these sound like Foo Fighters songs." Investigate it for yourself here, and/or check out those Instagram reels below.

This upcoming record will be the band's first with new drummer Ilan Rubin, who the band hired away from Nine Inch Nails last year. NIN then took on Josh Freese, the drummer who Foo Fighters had just fired, thus completing the great 2025 drummer swap. Dave Grohl played drums on the Foos' last album, 2023's But Here We Are, following the sudden and tragic death of longtime member Taylor Hawkins.

In other Foos news, Dave Grohl had himself a cute little viral moment at the Super Bowl last weekp. He was there with Zane Lowe.

Also, Dave's daughter Violet Grohl is in the middle of her own rollout. Last week, she released a video for "Thum," the single that she released back in December.

Finally, Josh Freese is on the cover of the latest issue of Modern Drummer. In the accompanying profile, he says a few things about getting fired from Foo Fighters, though he also says he's got to be careful because everything he says about them gets taken out of context now. As Blabbermouth reports, Freese had this to say:

I have a couple small theories [as to why I was let go], but I can't really go into them right now. I did really enjoy the two years I spent with those guys, however, and they were good to me… until they weren't. I liked playing with them. And I loved having Dave as a bandleader. I truly respect him so much as a drummer first and foremost. To me, he's a drummer first, and everything else is second. I've listened to him on all the great records he's played drums on more than I've listened to any Foo Fighters stuff. It really was cool being in a band where the leader is a phenomenal drummer that you respect...

I enjoyed being around those guys; they were generous and good to me… And that's what makes the whole thing even more of a mystery. I think I'm a pretty good read on people, and I did not see that coming. One day, it was nothing but laughs, we're on stage and Dave's looking at me every night like, "You're killing it, dude!!!" And then it was just — over...

Perhaps Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Zacky Vengeance is a Freese fan.
