I have waited for this day. Richmond, Virginia's Division Of Mind are among the greatest heavy hardcore bands on the face of the planet right now. They make fiery, metallic mosh ragers with occasional tinges of industrial and experimental music, and they cause absolute pandemonium whenever they play live. I've seen them a bunch of times in recent years, and every set has been inspiring. But DOM haven't released any music in a long time, so the news of a new album is extremely welcome.
Division Of Mind released their incredibly sick self-titled debut way back in December 2019. It was one of my favorite hardcore albums of that year, and it has only grown in my estimation since then. I've heard rumblings of a new DOM album for the last couple of years, and now I can finally tell you that this new album is called Exoterror and that it comes out this Friday.
We don't have to wait long to hear Exoterror, and we get a taste of it today. Along with the news, DOM have shared two new songs, "Ambroxan" and the title track. (Google tells me that Ambroxan is a chemical compound designed to reproduce a musky natural scent, while "Exoterror" is a made-up word with no definition.) Both songs are absolutely towering anthems, and I cannot wait to see the way people react to them at Richmond's upcoming United Blood fest. Below, check out both songs and the Exoterror tracklist.
