I'm on record declaring Sunny Day Real Estate's How It Feels To Be Something On as the best album of 1998. Does that statement stand up to scrutiny? Probably not, but it feels right whenever I'm listening. SDRE LP3 is a stone-cold classic, a record everyone who loves ambitious, arena-scale, artsy-but-accessible rock music should be exposed to. To me, it easily clears Diary as the band's finest work. It rules is what I'm saying.
Coma Regalia, the veteran screamo band from Lafayette, Indiana, clearly have affection for How It Feels To Be Something On as well. The band has shared a cover of "Guitar And Video Games," a song that makes hanging out with the boys sound epic. Coma Regalia's own edie explains the genesis of the cover on Bandcamp:
A couple of months ago I finished a 40 page comic I had been working on which was inspired by my love of music and video games. It was named Guitar and Video Games after one of my favorite Sunny Day Real Estate songs. I meant to record the cover at the time of it's release to coincide with it but was not able to do so. I sold through most of the first printing of that comic and as I'm set to do a 2nd press of it so I thought I'd record the song now.
Download comes with PDF of comic.
