Two years ago, the North Carolina singer-songwriter Rosali Middleman released Bite Down, the second album that she recorded with Omaha bar-rockers David Nance & Mowed Sound as her backup band. That album rules. Today, Rosali follows it with a standalone single called "Other Side," with Mowed Sound backing her up once again.
"Other Side" is not a Red Hot Chili Peppers cover. Instead, it's a raggedly rousing country-rock jam about looking forward to seeing your dead friends when it's that time. There's a great applause line about "crushing all my enemies, I mean those fuckers in power," and Rosali's tough and expansive voice shines though.
Last year, Rosali appeared on Superchunk's single "Bruised Lung." Next week, she'll open for that band at a few shows in the Southeast. Below, check out "Other Side" and those tour dates.
