Hayley Williams Brought Out Rachel Brown At Water From Your Eyes’ Hometown Show

You know what's fun? Watching two rock stars share a stage, especially when those rock stars like each other. Right now, Paramore leader and genuine bona fide rock star Hayley Williams is on her first-ever solo tour, and she brought along Water From Her Eyes as the opening act, which has led to some funny online reactions. On Wednesday night in Chicago, Williams enjoyed a moment of onstage collaboration with another genuine bona fide rock star, Stereogum "Discovery Channel" correspondent Rachel Brown.

When Williams kicked off her tour in Atlanta last month, she brought out special guest Josh Scogin, currently of '68 and formerly of the Chariot and Norma Jean. Scogin helped out on Williams' live-show closer "Parachute." At various other stops on the tour, Williams has brought out other guests, often for "Parachute": Tierra Whack, City And Colour's Dallas Green, Upchuck's KT, Annie DiRusso, Claud, comedian Caleb Hearon, White Lotus star Meghann Fahy. On Tuesday, Williams played the first of two shows at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom, and American Football's Mike Kinsella came out for "Parachute." But last night was different. Last night, it was Water From Your Eyes' Rachel Brown on "Discovery Channel," the one with the Bloodhound Gang interpolation.

Water From Your Eyes are currently based in Brooklyn, but the band started in Chicago. So that means that Rachel got to open for Hayley Williams and sing a song with her in their hometown. Obviously, we at Stereogum are very psyched about this. When Williams and Brown met for the first time, Stereogum was a part of it. It looked a little something like this:

Look at them! Instant buddies. We can't claim to be the reason that Hayley Williams is into Water From Your Eyes. That's all Hayley Williams. (Williams' new duo Power Snatch also just covered "Perfect Hand," a song from This Is Lorelei, AKA Williams' Water From Your Eyes partner Nate Amos.) But we're happy about it anyway.
