In 2023, Citizen released their fifth album, Calling The Dogs. Mat Kerekes shared his fourth solo LP, To Dream Of Something Wicked, the following year. Now the Toledo emo band is back with the announcement of Halcyon Blues, arriving in August.
"It's about unexpected change," Kerekes says of the record. "You think you know everything, you think you have everything figured out, and then all of the sudden you don't. Everything's different, for better and for worse. Sometimes it's really hard but ultimately it might be for the best."
Halcyon Blues was recorded by Kerekes in his home studio in Toledo and mixed by Tom Lorde-Alge (U2, Weezer). The lead single "Highs And Lows" is out today, and it's as infectious as it is dark. It also comes with the announcement of a huge worldwide tour with openers like Anxious, Hotline TNT, Rocket, and more. Below, check out the "Highs And Lows" video directed by Josh Pfaff.
