Oasis Documentary From Peaky Blinders Creator And Meet Me In The Bathroom Filmmakers Coming To Disney+

Simon Emmett

The inevitable documentary about the Oasis reunion is coming this fall. Though Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is credited as the "creator" of the doc, Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace — who co-directed the LCD Soundsystem documentary Shut Up And Play The Hits and the film adaptation of the Strokes-era NYC rock scene oral history Meet Me In The Bathroom — are signed on to direct. The film, which remains untitled for now, will have a short theatrical run beginning Sept. 11 and will be streaming on Disney+ later in the year.

There was already an excellent Oasis documentary called Oasis: Supersonic that charted the band's rise in the 1990s, ending with the legendary 1996 gigs at Knebworth that most would cite as the peak of the band's career. This new "unapologetically uplifting" film will track their triumphant 2025 reunion tour, with footage from the stage and behind the scenes, as well as a look at what Oasis' music means to their biggest fans. Disney, magna studios, and Sony Music Vision are co-producing it.

Knight shared this statement:

I genuinely cannot wait for the world to see this film. I believe it captures the spirit and emotion of a global cultural moment and does justice to the wit and genius of two exceptional people. I wanted to tell the story of the brothers and the band, but just as important, the story of the fans whose lives the music has touched and sometimes changed forever. It is also the story of how music and songwriting can unite generations, cultures, countries and in a time of spite and division, give us all some reason to hope.

The movie will stream internationally on Disney+. In the US, it will stream on Hulu and Disney+. No date has yet been announced for the streaming debut, but you can see it in IMAX and on standard screens starting 9/11.
