Buzz has been steadily building around This Is Lorelei. In 2024, after many prolific years in the underground, Water From Your Eyes member Nate Amos signed his solo project to Double Double Whammy and released Box For Buddy, Box For Star, which was well-received upon arrival and has since emerged as one of the defining indie rock albums of this decade.
In the process, Amos has been increasingly recognized as a singular songwriter. When he re-recorded a bunch of his old songs for the album Holo Boy last year, I wondered whether he's an actual genius, and some immensely talented people including Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman, Jeff Tweedy, Snail Mail, and Hayley Williams have lined up to cover Box For Buddy songs on a procession of deluxe editions, which occasioned a New York Times feature headlined "Everybody Wants To Sing Nate Amos's Songs."
Now it's finally time to stop celebrating Amos' past accomplishments and move forward. Today he announced a run of headlining dates, mostly in the fall, which he's calling the Singer In My Band Tour. Does that mean he will soon be releasing an album called Singer In My Band? I don't know, but whatever he puts out next will be on Matador Records, the storied mega-indie that also counts Water From Your Eyes on its roster. Along with the tour, Amos has revealed This Is Lorelei's new deal with the label.
In addition to the headlining shows (some of which feature support from Colin Miller or @), This Is Lorelei is opening a few shows for Bleachers. Check out the full itinerary below.
