It's Slide Away time. The shoegaze festival curated by Nothing's Nicky Palermo commenced last night at the Brooklyn Paramount, and it featured Hum's first performance since 2019. Considering their last album was 2020's spectacular Inlet, there were some live debuts.
It was the band's first gig since drummer Bryan St. Pere passed away in 2021. With Jason Gerken behind the kit, the group played "Waves," "Step Into You," and "Shapeshifter" for the first time ever. They also did "Afternoon With The Axolotls" for the first time since 2017, as well as "Folding" and "I'd Like Your Hair Long" for the first time since 2018. According to my rigorous reporting, there were also free pickles.
The evening also had Lovesliescrushing, Bleary Eyed, Manslaughter 777, Nothing celebrating 10 years of Tired Of Tomorrow, and Chapterhouse's first show since 2010. Below, see videos of Hum's set along with the setlist.
