Pop Montreal is ready to bring another assemblage of sophisticated musical artists to the venues of La Métropole. The music festival's 2026 edition — also its 25th anniversary edition — will take place Sept. 23-27, and its initial lineup is out now.
Some names that jump out at me: High Vis, Cutty Ranks, Automatic, Squirrel Flower, Spencer Krug, Lucrecia Dalt, Julie Doiron, Infinity Song, Uffie, Luna, Truck Violence, Dutch Interior, Chad VanGaalen, La Sécurité, Living Hour, Friends&, A Winged Victory For The Sullen, Nardwuar the Human Serviette. That's quite a nice mix of underground sounds. And it doesn't stop there! Just look at that poster.
Also on tap: a 20th anniversary celebration for local label Secret City featuring Klô Pelgag, Brad Barr, Basia Bulat, Antoine Corriveau, Unessential Oils, La Force, Shad, Bye Parula, and more. Something called Heated "POP" Rivalry billed as "a live and sexy Heated Rivalry live show and book launch" with guests including Dumas, La Bronze, Phillipe B, Night Lunch, Peter Perter, and more. Film screenings will include I Am Trying To Break Your Heart: A Film About Wilco (2002) and We Are The Shaggs (2026).
This always seems like a very cool event. If you'd like to go, you can get tickets here.
