In April, Kanye West was denied entry to the UK due to his history of antisemitism and Nazism, causing the cancellation of London's Wireless Festival. The rapper then canceled his shows in France and Poland after authorities expressed possible bans from their countries as well. Now, Italy has canceled his performance, as well as Travis Scott's.
According to Reuters, authorities have canceled the concerts slated for July in the northern city of Reggio Emilia due to concerns over public order and security, including the possibility of protests. Scott — whose Astroworld Festival in Houston killed 10 people in 2021 — was supposed to perform at the Pulse Of Gaia Festival on July 17 at the RCF Arena, with Ye scheduled for the next day.
The local prefect, Salvatore Angieri, said the decision to ban the two acts was taken after the issue was raised by consumer group CODACONS and the Jewish community in Modena and Reggio Emilia. The close timing of the shows and the high influx of spectators also contributed to the ban.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands says Ye's concert there will go forward, with the migration minister stating that there are no legal grounds to deny him entry.
