Mal Not Bad is an LA-based artist and producer who's collaborated with Hayley Williams, Mk.gee, Jay Som, and more. Their full-length debut This Is Your New Life arrived in 2024, and today they're announcing its aptly titled followup Sophomore. The new single "WIDC" is here now.
SZA, the documentary The Last Dance, and Frank Ocean served as sources of inspirations for the track. "Everything on that song is pretty much a first take, first idea," Mal Hauser explains. "I used complete gibberish naming every track to keep myself in the mindset of not taking it too seriously because, after all, making music is inherently hilarious. The pitched down vocal was all improv and my real time reaction to pitching down my voice for the first time."

Sophomore is out 9/9 via Same Same Music. Pre-order it here.
