Brisbane's Girl And Girl specialize in energetic, catchy-scratchy indie rock jams, and they seem like they're having the most fun when they're at their most anxious. They released their most recent single Call A Doctor in 2024. Last year, they followed that record with "The Cow" and "Okay," two one-off singles of varying levels of seriousness. Today, they've got two more new songs for us.
Of the two new Girl And Girl songs, the boppy jitter-jump "It's Dead" actually appears second in the tracklist, but it's the one with a music video — director Alexandros Kalas' vision of a Girl And Girl band practice that turns into a gory, murderous Mortal Kombat brawl. A great video, truly. In a press release, frontman Kai Aubort says, “We’re always hinting at death in our music, talking about it in such roundabout ways, so I thought it was about time I just came out and said it … IT’S DEAD!!!!" (Caps his.) They've paired that song with the similarly headlong "Hell," which has major Los Campesinos! vibes. Check out both songs below.
