A few months ago, the great '90s grunge-punk band L7 announced plans for a farewell tour. Today, singer and bassist Jennifer Finch has shared the news that she won't be able to take part in the tour because she's been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. The 59-year-old Finch has already been through multiple surgeries. Going forward, she'll need ongoing medical care and professional in-home assistance, and her friends and family have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for her treatment, as well as an extensive archive of her work and the completion of an in-progress creative project.
In addition to her time in L7, Finch has been part of the bands Sugar Babydoll, OtherStarPeople, and the Shocker, and she has worked extensively as a music photographer. Finch asked L7 to move forward with their tour, and they plan to do so. In a press release, Finch's bandmate Donita Sparks says, "We are all devastated by the news and are surrounding her with love, protecting her privacy and dignity, while helping raise the resources she urgently needs for the care ahead. Jennifer is family, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years."
