Last month, the goth-folk artist Chelsea Wolfe became the face of a new paranormal-themed perfume called Ghosts, which feels perfectly in line with Wolfe's entire aesthetic. At the same time, Wolfe shared two new songs, "Death Is Not The End" and "The Dark." As it turns out, both of those new songs are on a new Wolfe album, which is out next month and which is also called The Dark.
After recording her last LP, 2024's She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She, with TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek, Chelsea Wolfe made The Dark with Andra Day/Hozier collaborator Jennifer Decilveo, who co-produced alongside Wolfe's longtime right hand man Ben Chisolm. Wolfe tells NME that she wanted "a lot of guitar in this record" and that there are "rock moments." Collaborators include Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa, and Nine Inch Nails associates Justin Medal-Johnsen and Robin Finck.
Today, Wolfe shares the spooky but welcoming opening track "Cold," which actually sounds pretty warm to me? Magdalena Wosinska directed the seance-themed video; check it out below.
