DIIV Announce New A. G. Cook-Produced Album ZIRP!

11:02 AM EDT on July 26, 2026

A. G. Cook has been silently dominating 2026. The producer has had his hand in a bunch of major projects this year, including working with best pal Charli XCX for the soundtrack of A24 film and pop mockumentary The Moment and then her thought-provoking seventh studio album Music, Fashion, Film (which features a tribute to him, “Magic Metal Montana”). He also reissued music he worked on with Danny L Harle from their project Dux Content. Now he's continuing his stellar streak of collaborations. Yesterday, shoegaze group Diiv announced their Frog In Boiling Water followup is called ZIRP! and is produced by Cook. It’s coming out Oct. 30.

No singles or sound clips have been released in relation to ZIRP!, although there is a presave page the band linked on Instagram on Saturday. Cook also reshared a tease on his Stories. Some fans received business cards in the mail as well; they show a QR code that brings you to the band's website and lists the phone number +1 229-798-9477.

Calling the number will let you hear a telemarketer-like message announcing ZIRP! as "the future of alternative multimedia entertainment." There's also mentions of wanting to "challenge assumptions," "create entire new categories," and "think on a global scale."

The faux company marketing scheme has me thinking about the beginnings of PC Music, playing with the way music can be tied to products and marketed to the world is bizarre ways. That has me excited. I'm also stoked about the cacophony these two geniuses will cook up. Over the past few years, Cook has been leaning heavily into anthemic, grungy guitar territory with side project Thy Slaughter and his own solo stuff, such as Disc two: Present from last year's three-part project Britpop.

Check out images about the project below.
