Somewhere out there is a Billy Strings fan with very bad intentions and very good aim. On Thursday night, the folk/bluegrass phenom played the first of three shows at Fishers Event Center in Fishers, Indiana. In the middle of his set, someone threw an unknown object from the crowd and beaned Strings right in the head. The artist was in the middle of his crowd patter between songs, and he didn't get injured or busted open or anything. But Strings was clearly and visibly pissed. Here's what he told the crowd:
I'm so glad I could make it down here to make up for last time. [Thing bonks off head.] Oh, what the hell, man? Maybe not! Maybe I shouldn't be back! You know, why the fuck would you throw something at me? Is your dick really that small? I was just gettin' ready to say how much I'm happy to be here, I love you guys, and all this shit, and you throw somethin', it hits me right in the fuckin' head! Find out who that was and sodomize him, please!

An Untz Instagram video has a different angle, and that post also connects Strings' line to something that Les Claypool once said after getting hit by mud during a Primus set.
The whole story here is pretty mysterious. Why would someone pay to see a show and then intentionally antagonize the headliner? And how did they hit him that squarely on the head, from that far away? But maybe we don't want to know more about it. If the offending party was a member of the powerful Merch Mafia, perhaps we should just mind our own business and move on.
