Anytime he wants, the Killers frontman Brandon Flowers could retire and live a very comfortable life on "Mr. Brightside" royalties alone. He wouldn't even have to touch that "When You Were Young" money! But Flowers isn't done, and he affirmed it in a recent Times feature:
I’m really going through it right now: how much longer do I want to do this, what does it mean, why am I doing it anyway? Whenever I finish a tour, without fail I get sick. Then I think of Mick Jagger and ask myself: what keeps him getting up on that stage? I guess it’s because there are powerful moments in a concert. How could I not want to do that?
For now, Flowers is getting ready to release his new countrified solo album Thrasher, and we've posted his songs "Paradise" and "Plans." Today, he shares his new single "Tiger's Blood," which may or may not be named after the thing that Charlie Sheen said that he had. (That reminds me: The Mountain Goats' new album Days is out today, and it rules.) "Tiger's Blood" isn't really a country song at all. It's a propulsive rocker with an even more pronounced Springsteen influence than so many past Flowers and Killers songs. He pretty much does the "I'm On Fire" cadence straight-up. Listen below.
