We're just a few days away from the release of Julia Holter's next album. On Friday, the gauzy, expansive singer and composer will share her new LP Materia, and we've already posted her tracks "The Laugh Is In The Eyes," "Fantasy," and "My Lost One." To tide us over until the full-length arrives, Holter shares one more track today, and it's a sequel of sorts.
Materia is named after a song from Holter's last album, 2024's Something In The Room She Moves. So that means that "Materia" doesn't appear on Materia, but the album does have songs called "Materia 2" and "Materia 3." They're all part of the same cinematic universe. "Materia 2," the song that Holter shares today, is a hazy fog that pairs Holter's own voice with that of her fellow singer/composer Jessika Kenney, along with fretless bass from Devra Hoff and clarinet from Chris Speed.
