This nominations for this year's VMAs are here. The awards show is next month, and Madonna is in the lead with 11 nods. The most interesting category, though, is Best New Artist. There've been many emerging musicians within the past year, and apparently one of them is Will Ferrell's son.

Magnus Ferrell is one of the seven nominees for Best New Artist. Earlier this year, he had a breakthrough when his song "Asleep Talking" went viral, thanks to his dad playing a snippet of it on Michelle Obama's IMO podcast. The track is the same brand of hacky, forgettable alternative R&B made by Malcolm Todd, who's nominated for Best New Artist as well. Others in the category are Orlando-based indie-pop artist Bella Kay, South Korean boy band CORTIS, British singer Myles Smith, English singer-songwriter Sienna Spiro, and viral "Boston" singer Stella Lefty, whose dad is a multi-billionaire and a CEO of Tempus AI.

Geese are not in nominated in that category, but they are up for Best Alternative with "Taxes." But will they beat the new song Sombr that nobody cares about? Will they beat mgk and Fred Durst's collab? We'll see.

The 2026 MTV VMAs will broadcast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 27 on CBS. It will simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. and will be available globally the next day on Paramount+ and MTV.
