Sour Widows – “Lucky Star”

"Lucky Star," the new song from the Bay Area alt-rock duo Sour Widows, is not a Madonna cover. Back in 2024, Sour Widows had a single called "Cherish," and that wasn't a Madonna cover, either. At this point, Sour Widows should really just work their way down the entire Immaculate Collection tracklist and repurpose every title. The strategy seems to be working out for them.

"Lucky Star" comes from Sour Widows' upcoming album Sigil, and it follows lead single "Blood In The Grass." (I just double-checked, and Madonna does not have any songs called "Blood In The Grass.") Sigil is Sour Widows' first LP since losing one member and becoming a duo, and they recorded it with producer Melina Duterte, better known as Jay Som. Their "Lucky Star" is a truly impressive rocker that builds to an explosive finale of clangy guitars. Below, check out the video, directed by bandmates Maia Sinaiko and Susanna Thomson.

Sigil is out 10/23 on Julia's War.
