Perennial – “Emma Peel”

3:15 PM EDT on September 1, 2026

It's September, which means Perennial's Modernism is right around the corner. We've heard "What's New On The Beat Scene," "Modernism," and "Ready! Steady! Go!," and today the New England trio is unleashing the quick, sprightly finale "Emma Peel."

"This is shortest song on the album, and also the most packed with stuff," vocalist/guitarist Chad Jewitt says. "At first the song was built entirely around the loud post-hardcore first half, but we wanted something more adventurous for the bridge, so we gradually came up with this cool jazz interlude — a minimal groove with vibraphone and mellotron. It's the collage thing: seeing what interesting layers might fit together in surprising ways."

Listen below.

Modernism is out 9/18 on Ernest Jenning Record Co.
