Purple Pilgrims Announce New Album Given To The Night: Hear “Innocence Lost”

10:59 AM EDT on September 8, 2026

The New Zealand-based sisters Clementine and Valentine Nixon are the two members of the dreamy duo Purple Pilgrims. They grew up between New Zealand and Hong Kong, and they've been making music together under the Purple Pilgrims name for the past 15 years. In that time, they've collaborated with people like the Chills and Roy Montgomery, and they've toured with Aldous Harding and Weyes Blood, among many others. Now, they're getting ready to follow their 2023 album The Coin That Broke the Fountain Floor with a new one called Given To The Night.

To record Given To The Night, Purple Pilgrims deleted their social media and isolated themselves in New Zealand, only inviting a few other people to help with the process. Album opener "Innocence Lost" shows the kind of still, beatific beauty they were able to find through that process. It's a rich, gauzy, atmospheric jam that still has the DIY aesthetic hallmarks of classic New Zealand indie-pop. The Nixon sisters' harmonies are enough to really knock you over. Below, check out the "Innocence Lost" video and the Given To The Night tracklist.
