Well, the lights in the bathroom, yeah, they're whiter than heaven! And your sister's boyfriends keeps looking at his — haw, ya know!" That's how Sports Team start their new single "Billy." They grab your attention right up top, and then they reward it.
UK alt-rockers and Fred again.. haters Sports Team released their long-delayed album Boys These Days last year, and it got a deluxe edition a few months later. They recorded that one in Norway with pop producer Matias Tellez, and their new single "Billy," a one-off for now, feels like a chaotic, energetic turn back in the other direction. It's an explosive, wordy account of a drunken night out, and it's a ton of fun. Here's what guitarist and songwriter Rob Knaggs says about the song:
It’s a love letter to getting desperately, insanely drunk at a carpeted pub on a Tuesday night. We recorded it live at RAK studios over the first weeks of summer with Seth Evans and Adele Phillips. It felt like a return to how we made the first album. Fast, and loose and loud.
