A few months ago Brighton-based group Glasshouse Red Spider Mite shared their first new song of 2026: "Hell 1000." Yesterday, they returned with its follow-up, titled "Ride Or Die." The beautifully revving love song comes ahead of sold-out shows with Band To Watch Mary In The Junkyard taking place at the end of the month.
"Ride Or Die" has all kinds of knotty guitars. Some are twangy and some are filed thin and ragged. The vocals are breathy and close. At times they feel veiled, wrapped in cheesecloth. Romantic lyrics that feature angels tears and a cry-inducing smile. Is it from beauty or from that sense of just being out reach? There's also a great conflicted line, maybe I just relate to it because most days my brain seems to malfunction in its reach for clarity, that doesn't mean I want to be alone: "My brain don't work too easy/ I don't care if you're not there, I'm not there."
“‘Always be my ride or die’ is a stupid way to say ‘I love you’, but I hope that makes it kinda more honest," guitarist Ethan Barton shared. "It's also the song with my favourite guitar part to play, so it was only right that I made it about my favourite person - my girlfriend.”
