Helena Deland's last solo album was 2023's Goodnight Summerland, which earned our Album Of The Week honor. The following year, she and fellow Montreal musician Ouri shared the second Hildegard LP, Jour 1596. Then last year, Deland continued her Altogether Unaccompanied series with its fifth volume. Now, she's back with "How Do You Like Me Now."
"I wonder to which extent the authors of posthumously published diaries were writing with a vague audience in mind," Deland says of the song. "Here, I'm convincing myself that a person I admire, very much still alive, has written everything down in their notebook in the hopes of it being found. When that day finally came, they'd say 'That's right. There I am. How do you like me now?'"
