In less than a month, Fontaines D.C., now a truly huge rock band, will release their new album Dopamine Chamber. It's going to be a really big deal. Thus far, they've only shared one single from the LP: "Marianne," which has a concerning and AI-befouled video from director Dave Meyers. At recent shows, Fontaines have been playing new songs live: "Marianne" and "Six Shot Morning" in Cádiz, "Happy For You" at the Leeds Festival. On Monday night, they hit a Brooklyn crowd with another new track.
Fontaines D.C. are currently on a short North American run of festival dates and one-off gigs, and they played Brooklyn's Kings Theatre last night. In the middle of their set, they debuted a churning, slow-building Dopamine Chamber track called "Tongue." It's got a deep, heady bass-driven groove and a general sense of impending doom. We know that "Tongue" will be on Dopamine Chamber because Fontaines officially unveiled the album's tracklist on Friday. As expected, "Six Shot Morning" and "Happy For You" are on there, too. The album also includes the band's first-ever collaboration with a featured guest: Rosalía, another huge star and boundary-pusher, who appears on the song "Where Is Gone?" Ireland and Catalonia have a long history of anti-colonialist solidarity, which makes the idea of a Fontaines/Rosalía collab cool for reasons that go beyond music. Check out the tracklist below.
