Macklemore Announces Free Palestine Tour

Macklemore has been in the news a lot lately. The onetime pop-rap hitmaker was among the first mainstream figures to protest against Israel's genocidal campaign in Palestine and to loudly and accurately use the word "genocide" to describe it. Macklemore was booked as an opener on Ed Sheeran's current stadium tour, but Sheeran dropped him at the behest of stadium owner Robert Kraft. Famously, this led to every other opener on that tour, as well as Sheeran's own backing band, quitting the tour in solidarity. Sheeran said that he's "not complicit," then cried about it onstage. Meanwhile, Macklemore continues to take actual action.

In the wake of all the attention from the Sheeran situation, Macklemore announced that he's donating the $1 million that he earned from the tour to organizations that aid Palestinian people, inviting Robert Kraft to do the same. (Kraft pledged $2 million in "aid to the region" without specifying which organizations would get his money.) Now, Macklemore, noting that his "schedule freed up a bit," has announced the first three dates on his Free Palestine Tour, with all proceeds going to benefit organizations supporting Palestinian people and their movement.

The tour is a work in progress. Macklemore says that he has "spent the last week reaching out to artists who have shown up and used their stages to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, regardless of the consequences." Thus far, he has only announced arena shows in Dublin, Paris, and London. He hasn't revealed the names of any of the artists who will join him or the US dates that he says are on the way. Here's what he has written:

If these last couple of weeks have shown us anything, it’s that something has shifted over the last three years. There has been a collective awakening around Palestinian liberation, the power of billionaires that try to censor that call, and what we expect from artists right now.
It’s 2026. Being apolitical during a genocide doesn’t work anymore. People are asking artists to show up, educate themselves and be in community. To use the stage for more than entertainment. To push back when the call for a Free Palestine is met with attempts to silence it.
What happened to me is bigger than one artist or one stage. When the billionaire class can decide which voices are allowed on stage and which ones are too dangerous to hear, everyone should be paying attention.
So, as you all know, my schedule freed up a bit.
I’ve spent the last week reaching out to artists who have shown up and used their stages to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, regardless of the consequences. Artists who understand that our platforms mean very little if we’re only willing to use them when it’s safe.
Because of how quickly all of this has come together, a lot of the conversations, schedules and details are still being worked out. But this is a moment of momentum, and there is work to be done.
So we’re going on tour.
