Now we are indeed talking. The War On Drugs returned last month with "Who's That," their first new single in four years, and it lived up to our lofty expectations. The band is out on the road right now, and they presented another new track for the good people of Birmingham.
On Wednesday night, Adam Granduciel and friends headlined the Avondale Brewing Company. Halfway through their set, right after "Who's That," they debuted a new one called "Now We're Talkin'." It's the sort of meditative midtempo heartland-rock shimmer we've come to expect from this band, and friends, it's scratching that particular itch in a way no imitator could manage. Indie dad-rockers of the world, rejoice: This song is pure, uncut Drugs. Time to indulge:
The War On Drugs play the Bourbon & Beyond festival in Louisville tonight, and they've got a few more shows coming up in October. Do we dare expect a new album announcement soon?
