Back in April, the influential Swedish singer/rapper hybrid Yung Lean and the French producer GENER8ION went viral with their "Storm" video. Directed by Romain Gavras, the video stars Yung Lean as the bully at a fancy, futuristic boarding school. In the lengthy final scene, he wears a suit and tie and stands on bleachers amidst a large group of dancers, also wearing suits and ties. Intense choreography ensues. Gavras captures the whole sequence from a wide angle, framing a stoic, smoking Yung Lean amidst a heaving throng of humanity.
Yung Lean and GENER8ION re-created that moment tonight at the VMAs. Onstage at the Peacock Theater, Yung Lean and the whole squad of dancers brought the "Storm" video to life. It was a hell of a way to make his US TV debut.
