"ready or noT," a new brakence album is coming sooN. After dropping a new single last week, the Columbus digicore star announced his forthcoming LP marroW on Tuesday. Today we get two more trackS ahead of the project's release three weeks from now.
It's hard to pin down brakence's sound. Hyperpop, emo rap, rock, and a lot more are colliding these songs. He's one of those post-everything artists that feel like they could only emerge from this generation, even if he's pulling from ancient (20th century) source material right alongside the more modern elements. New single "crystallized" is essentially blue eyed soul for the 2hollis generation. Meanwhile, the skittering "death roiL" blurs the lines between melodic rap, post-Radiohead alt-rock, and electronic dance music. The production is crisp, the arrangements vivid, and both the songwriting and performance are full of personality. I'm impressed!

marroW is out 10/23 on Columbia. Pre-save it here.
