Watch Joanna Newsom’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Debut, 2002 Music Video Cameo

Joanna Newsom In Pocket For Corduroy Video

First off, check out an abridged "Soft As Chalk" from the singer/songwriter's ambitious new "triple" album Have One On Me. This aired on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night and I believe it Joanna's US TV debut it marks her second American TV performance (see Kimmel '05). According to @UncleGrambo,SNL's Fred Armisen, Akiva Schaffer, and John Mulaney headed down to 6A to watch live. Those guys know.

If that comes down, try this Hulu:

Next, we travel back to the beginning of this week when Fleet Fox Robin Pecknold quietly posted his solo cover of "On A Good Day" to YouTube.

Finally, Tripwire has dug up J.New's bloody music video debut, released years before we knew she was a method actress. The song is “New Obsession” by the band Pocket For Corduroy (Joanna's older brother Peter played drums). Director Brad Oates was a 21-year old UC-Santa Cruz film student at the time. He blogs:

We had a great time chasing the band around the woods of Nevada City, CA and getting things done. Cut to today: Pete Newsom’s sister, Joanna Newsom, is now a starlet in her own right and getting quite a bit of press for her new album.
