MNDR – “I Go Away”

MNDR

|MNDR

When I posted Amanda Warner's track with Mark Ronson, I pointed out how much she reminded me of Santigold. "I Go Away," from MNDR's EP E.P.E., also has some vocal similarities, mainly how both can sound rich and fractured when doing slower songs. "I Go Away" is a minimal (torched?) torch song, a breakup anthem but only her anthem, because she says so, and because she seems to only be singing for herself. Maybe she did the breaking up? Because her nerdy and endearing in-the-studio interview on The Fader makes me wonder who would ever want to break up with her.
