From being one of Fallon's first music guests to telling us that rumors of their demise have been greatly exaggerated, the Class of '05 music industry case study that is Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have been somewhat on the scene this year. Still, less than expected: It was fair to think The Great Buck Howard -- the Tom Hanks/John Malkovich movie in which CYHSY were performing/starring as themselves -- would be the next watershed moment for them. except that apparently that movie was so terrible we barely knew it was released and it's already on On Demand where I've been told I should not watch it, because it should not be watched ever. Anyway Clap wrote some new songs for the film, one of which they performed over the closing credits. It's a mid-tempo strummer that's somehow registers both as promisingly melodic and fairly lifeless, or maybe that's just the camera editing and vibe carrying over from the movie's doomed shoot. Anyway, Tom Hanks's son makes a cameo.

Thanks Matt for the tip! New Clap Your Hands music is happening, of that we've been assured; we're just not sure when.
