At his core, Harlem rapper and Stereogum40 artist ASAP Rocky is something of a revivalist. In an era where regional connotations are increasingly meaningless, ASAP Rocky is the latest champion of the slurped-up Houston rap perpetuated most famously by DJ Screw and UGK, but his revitalization is definitely not rehash. "Trilla" is another track in support of that claim, riding a chopped up, lean beat that finds Rocky holding it down with fellow ASAP crew members Nast and Twelvy. The track is produced by up-and-coming producer Beautiful Lou, who certainly holds a stake in the rise of this sound.
