During a recent visit to the DJ Statik Selektah radio mixshow Showoff Radio, the Black Hippy rapper Ab-Soul debuted a Statik-produced non-album track called "To The Max" -- or, rather, Statik debuted it, without telling Ab-Soul he was going to do it beforehand. The track, which is dedicated to the incarcerated New York rap cult hero Max B, is a piece of laid-back old-school boom-bap with a whole lot of rap-industry inside talk. Max B himself adds some ad-libs, via prison payphone. It's not on Ab-Soul's recent album These Days..., but you can hear a radio rip of it below.
