Geese Are Getting Brunch In SNL Promos With Teyana Taylor

It’s been another big week for reigning Album Of The Year artists Geese and reigning Best Supporting Actress Teyana Taylor, and this weekend they’ll both make their Saturday Night Live debuts.

On Monday (Jan. 19) Geese frontman Cameron Winter did a surprise NYC headline set under the alias Chet Chomsky. He wore a Tame Impala Deadbeat hat and hoodie (it was the eve of Kevin Parker's 40th birthday, but I don't think that explains why). Bandmate Emily Green was on that lineup too – it was a benefit for Olive Grove Initiative, which raises money for families from Gaza. (Geese also played the Sudan/Palestine benefit Artists For Aid in LA earlier this month.) On Tuesday (Jan. 20) some Geese members played Silent Hill in a Twitch livestream. and Winter FaceTimed in to consider the album title Alt-Milk for their Getting Killed followup. On Wednesday (Jan. 21) Geese were nominated for their first major industry honor, International Group Of The Year at the 2026 BRIT Awards which take place Feb. 28 (they're up against HAIM, HUNTR/X, Turnstile, and Winter fave Tame Impala); they got a shoutout from A$AP Rocky in an Apple Music interview; and they booked DJ sets at fellow Laneway Festival act the Dare's two freakquencies club nights in Sydney and Melbourne next month. Laneway is the first of many festivals Geese will play worldwide this year and if none are near you, you can instead enjoy their recently announced Live At Third Man Records album. Finally, today Winter was confirmed for the incredibly stacked War Child UK charity album HELP(2). He teamed with cellist Amy Langley for a track called "Warning."

Geese are not nominated for any Oscars (yet) but today Teyana Tayor received her first nod. She's up for Best Supporting Actress for her role in One Battle After Another, the acclaimed new film also featuring Geese stan Dijon and directed by Geese collaborator Paul Thomas Anderson. Taylor is a musician as well and she gave a rare live performance on The Tonight Show earlier this month, singing "Hard Part" with Lucky Daye. She also tried to explain costar Leonardo DiCaprio's viral K-pop kiki-ing at the Golden Globes, where she won.

This is a lot of context for a post about a Saturday Night Live commercial, but now you're all caught up. In the just released promos for this weekend's episode, host Taylor and musical guests Geese are joined by the cast's Marcello Hernández, and everyone in the band except for guitarist Green gets in lines. Good job, Geese.

Taylor also had a more elaborate solo promo earlier this week, with Ashley Padilla and Andrew Dismukes, and that was nod to a scene in Waiting To Exhale.

It seems unlikely James Austin Johnson will reprise his Cameron Winter impression, but if you wanna check out this Saturday Night Live episode, it airs on Saturday I am told.
