Iron & Wine – “Roses”

Kim Black

You guys like Iron? How about Wine? Yeah, me too. Well, good news. In a few weeks, indie-folk OG Sam Beam, better known to the world at large as Iron & Wine, will release his new album Hen's Teeth. We've already posted the I'm With Her collab "Robin's Egg" and the official lead single "In Your Ocean." Today, Beam drops a new one.

Iron & Wine's latest single is called "Roses," and it's not an Outkast single. Ordinarily, that probably wouldn't demand a clarification, but Sam Beam and Band Of Horses' Ben Bridwell did just cover Kendrick Lamar and SZA, so. This "Roses" is a lush, ornate folk song that keeps building as it goes. The surprisingly noisy finale is cool, but my favorite bit is where the strings come in. When those strings come in, you know you're really hearing something. Check out director Gaia Alari's animated "Roses" video below.

Hen’s Teeth is out 2/27 on Sub Pop.
