Powerplant – “The Fork”

The Ukrainian-born, London-based weirdo Theo Zhykharyev makes bugged-out synth-punk with his one-man project Powerplant, and his new album Bridge Of Sacrifice arrives next month. After sharing the title track, Powerplant has a new song, an eerie incantation called "The Fork."

"The Fork" starts out a little bit like what might happen if Mount Eerie tried to go goth in the '00s, but it grows into something much bigger and more cathartic. The song has a Giulia Mucci-directed video full of knights and witches. Here's what Zhykharyev says about it:

Giulia Mucci, the director, creates really atmospheric blends of modernity and worlds lost in time. This music video is a love-letter to the weird world of B movies — it's fun and super low budget, full of magic and done in one take. Giulia came up with a simple story about an evil witch enchanting a suit of armour to fetch a mortal for herself. A tale as old as time, but made today! It was shot on Super 8 just outside of Rome at the end of last autumn. It looks warm but it feels so cold.

Bridge Of Sacrifice is out 3/13 on Arcane Dynamics.
