The veteran rapper/producer Oddisee has been making beautiful music for a very long time now. Last year, he released an EP called En Route. Next month, he'll team up with Heno., a relatively new rapper from Takoma Park, Maryland, to release a new album called From Takoma With Love. Oddisee is based in Brooklyn these days, but like Heno., he grew up Washington, DC's Maryland suburbs, and Heno. says that the album is "dedicated to the home that raised me."
Heno. is new to me, but he and Oddisee teamed up for a single called "Integrity" last year. Oddisee produced all of From Takoma With Love, and his beat for lead single "MIMS" is awfully lush and jazzy. It's cool to hear someone approach a track like that with a singsong bounce-flow, and Oddisee has a great verse of his own, too.
