It's not yet summer, but it's always time for a wistful ballad about the hot, decadent season. Tasha is supplying us with that today with her new All This And So Much More single "Summer."
"'Summer' was written in June of 2024 in the middle of my Broadway run with Illinoise," the singer-songwriter explains, referring to the stage adaptation of Sufjan Stevens' album. "It's a reflection on the bittersweet acceptance of saying goodbye to someone or something important to you in pursuance of a different, meaningful magic."
On Instagram, she added that she wrote it "right around the time I realized I wanted to stay in New York. This song makes me think about all of the thrill, hope, and fear of that moment." The explanation explains the pretty lyric, "A little room shaped just the way I like/ And the city's blue sparkles in the light." It comes with a sunny, self-directed music video on a fire escape that captures the simple happiness of the track. Watch below.
All This And So Much More is out 9/20 via Bayonet.
