Sometimes, I like to get on this website and stoke anticipation, mentioning that I've heard some unreleased album and that you should be excited for it. This is not one of those times. Tinashe's upcoming LP Popstar is one of my most eagerly awaited records of the fall, and I haven't heard it yet. I can't wait. Early singles "Too Easy," "Crash Out," and "Melatonin" are all excellent in different ways. Today. she shares two more.
"Pillow Fight," one of Tinashe's new songs, starts out bright and clean and airy, like a Mariah Carey song from the '90s, before transforming into a breathy chant. Tinashe goes seductive Exorcist mode in the Zac Wiesel-directed video. She moves in a very different direction for the spacious, heartfelt new electro-ballad "I'd Rather Be Alone."
