"I'm like, 'This girl is a freak'/ Yeah, she's just like me." That's a great pop lyric! Hayden Dunham, known professionally as Hyd, is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist, and their latest solo exhibit, an installation called Never Is Over, opens tomorrow at New York's Company Gallery. Hyd also makes music, and they're not too high-minded to sing about how this girl is a freak.

Hyd used to be part of the PC Music universe, and they co-created the conceptual project QT. Next month, Hyd will release the new album Hold Onto Me Infinity, a new album that's partly inspired by the loss of her partner SOPHIE. "Freak," which follows lead single "Angel," is a dizzy and warped avant-pop track about the instant rush of attraction, and it gains emotional heft when you realize that Hyd is probably singing about SOPHIE.

In the Kelly McCormack-directed "Freak" video, Hyd wears a monocle like it's an eyepatch. Lots of other stuff happens, but that's what impressed me the post. Below, check out the "Freak" video and Hyd's upcoming tour dates.

TOUR DATES:
5/21 - Austin, TX @ Radio / East
5/23 - New York, NY @ Night Club 101
5/28 - Chicago, IL @ Sleeping Village
5/30 - Los Angeles, CA @ The Echo

Hold Onto Me Infinity is out 5/22 on Cascine.
