PinkPantheress Met Her Opp At Disney World

Charlie Engman

If you steal PinkPantheress' style, she might pop up at your place of work and look you right in your gigantic fake eyes. A beloved cartoon character just had to learn that the hard way.

Over the past few years, the PinkPantheress style — whispery, casually flirty vocals over fast, breezy dance beats — has become pretty central to global pop music. Lots of people are playing with PinkPantheress' style these days, but some of them are doing it more blatantly than others. A couple of months ago, Minnie Mouse released "My Furry Valentines," a song from something called Minnie’s Bow-Toons: Pet Hotel. You'd think that the song would be about Mickey Mouse, since mice have fur and all, but no, it's about pets. Very quickly, "My Furry Valentines" went TikTok viral because people on TikTok discovered that it sounds a whole lot like PinkPantheress.

Pink Pantheress herself got in on the meme, posting a TikTok video where she dances to the song, with this message onscreen: "this hit??? oh minnie when i catch you...." But in the caption, PinkPantheress at least dangled the possibility of a peaceful resolution: "someone said she she was digging in my purse. meanwhile the collab coming and the people ain’t ready"

We don't have a PinkPantheress/Minnie Mouse collab yet. Since PinkPantheress is already named after a cartoon character, that might require some legal wrangling, like how Robert Zemeckis got Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny onscreen together in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? But PinkPantheress did find Minnie Mouse. She played a show in Orlando on Monday, and she went to Disney World while she was there. A fan captured the moment that these two bitter adversaries came face-to-face.

It looks like they've squashed the beef, but then it's hard to read fear on a cartoon mascot's face.
