Last year, bluegrass/Americana stars the Avett Brothers got together with an unlikely collaborator, Mike Patton from Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, to make an entire album called AVTT/PTTN. The trio, also operating under the name AVTT/PTTN, made their TV debut on Fallon. Last month, AVTT/PTTN launched a tour, where they're playing Avett Brothers, Faith No More, and Mr. Bungle songs as well as the ones from the LP. On Wednesday night, AVVT/PTTN were back on TV, performing on KMML.

Don't worry, I'm not going to keep this joke going any further. On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the trio and their orchestral backing band played the AVTT/PTTN song "Disappearing," and they really looked like they all belonged together up there. The Avetts and Patton might seem like an odd pairing, but those guys are good at hitting big harmonies and wearing fancy clothes. Patton, still doing the tiny-pigtails thing, sang while playing some percussion instruments that I couldn't even name. It's a cool performance, and you can see it below.

AVTT/PTTN is out now on Thirty Tigers/Ramseur Records/Ipecac Recordings.
